I hope this finds you safe and well, and that despite trouble all around, you are finding renewed connections with loved ones, and renewed faith in our Lord. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear….” (Psalm 46:1-2)
Last Sunday, we were not able to meet in person for worship, but many of you were able to participate in a recorded service on-line. I have appreciated the many positive comments and suggestions some of you have shared!
This Sunday, March 29, we still will be on-line, but are planning to “livestream” the service at 8:45 am. Go to www.facebook.com/maranadisciples, or https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsX58UdPPhOJcXrF5DjTplA.
This will hopefully give us an increased sense of connection. And for those of you who are not able to wake up by then, and/or who want to catch the service later, it will be available anytime, just like last week’s.
Looking forward, with frequent updates on all of these items still to come (in other words, all the details have not yet been worked out):
1) It is unlikely that we’ll be able to get back together for worship by Easter (April 12), so on-line services will continue for the near future. I hope you will join us every week! (We’ll also have something special on-line on Good Friday, April 10, at 6 pm.)
2) Also on Sundays, starting this Sunday, we will be starting a weekly prayer group, called “Prayer Knot,” using “Zoom” (an on-line platform). We’ll start at 10 am, and go for 30 minutes. This will give those of you who normally worship at 8:45 am will have some time to get some breakfast after the livestream, and those of you who worship at 10:30 am can then go straight to the recorded service from the “Prayer Knot.” Here’s the link for our first “Prayer Knot”:
Further instructions are located at the end of this letter if you need them (for example, if you just want to call in using a phone). Since this will be the first one, we likely will have a few bugs to work out, so please be patient as we do so.
3) We will be wrapping up an 8-part Bible study on “How We Got the Bible” on Thursday, April 2, at 6:30 pm. You are certainly welcome to join us on “Zoom,” and I’d be happy to send you the link if you would like to join us. On April 23 we’ll begin a new on-line Thursday study, assuming we still are unable to meet in person.
A final note: it is not easy to not be together, to not see and talk with one another in person. Did any of us ever foresee anything like this? Probably not. But God is good. All the time. And His church is not limited to the 4 walls of a building. We are still “church,” because we are the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12), and because nothing in all creation can separate us from the love of God in Jesus Christ (Romans 8). Please contact me if I may be of service, or you just want to chat for a moment. I am praying for you.
In Jesus’ precious name,
